Recent Doubletree Mission Valley Review: "Walking Distance to the Movies, many restaurants such as Joe's Crab Shack, All American Sports Grill, Applebee's, Starbucks, Denny's, & SmashBurger. Not to mention the Hotel Restaurants.
The outdoor pool is usually disorganized in the evening when we go to relax, after a day of kids the chairs are all over the place, towels everywhere and it closes at 10:00pm which is a bummer. The indoor pool is something to avoid, the very strong smell of chlorine is just disgusting. The weak 110 Degree sauna is something that you wont really want. The outdoor fire pits are usualy crowded with drinking adults all night.
Room's are surprisingly comfortable & home"y" yet contemporary, quite chic after the recent July 2011 Renovation. I highly recommend to get a room with a balcony, they charge extra for a room that has one, but the windows in the rooms without balconies DO NOT OPEN AT ALL, Which is very ionic, The rooms smell of new carpet and bleach as the sheets are all white. The A/C is recirculating so there is no fresh air.
The room we had was right next to a room with a screaming baby, which was ironically was left ALONE in the room from around 7 - 8am We listen at around 7:50 am and we can hear the baby screaming its lungs out as if someone is cutting its fingers off, then we hear the door shut and someone come in. In ten minutes the baby is quiet. I know this has nothing to do with the hotel, but I wish i would have told the CareLine cause it happened 5/7 nights we were there.
Parking is $15 - Self Park a night, $19 for Valet. The parking is subject to change. We parked on the stop street, yet were charged self parking, the hotel took the charges off after checking their system. I was not to happy with this $105 mistake.
All in all a great hotel if your coming with a family. If your going as just couples, get the executive level rooms; all of which have a balcony. and I believe breakfast."
