Recent Grand Del Mar Review: "We spent 2 days at The Grand Del Mar while in San Diego for my son's sporting event. We were there from a Saturday through Monday. It felt like we had the hotel to ourselves - maybe it was just a quiet week. The hotel and its grounds are beautiful. Maintenance is obviously a high priority. There are multiple swimming pools, a kid's activity room with all kinds of cool toys, and the most complete gym I have ever seen in a hotel. The golf course looked immaculate - although I did not get a chance to play. To top it off, the hotel staff was absolutely top notch. My 11 year old son was treated as if he was an Olympic Gold Medalist. The concierge and front desk staff went far beyond what they are paid to do - they even sent a complimentary tray of giant cookies and a champagne bucket containing a bottle of milk to our room after he returned from competition. The food is probably not up to the standards of the remainder of the facility. It's not bad, but could be better."
