Recent Hotel Occidental Review: "We were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was immaculately clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. We especially liked all the small personal touches around the hotel, outdoor lounge and cafe areas (fresh flowers on the tables, free apples to take and enjoy), as well as the ability to borrow a few bikes to ride around the city. We also took advantage of the free DVDs that the hotel has in stock. The unique thing about Hotel Occidental is that it is "European style", which we were apprehensive about in the beginning. Not to worry though -- while it sounds a little dorm-like, the shower and restroom facilities are extremely well-maintained and private. The room that we stayed in (standard with half bath) was small, but well appointed -- we were surprised by the dishes supplied with the kitchenette (another nice touch). Overall, highly recommend this hotel. A great value in San Diego!"
