Recent Pacific Shores Pacific Beach Review: "Our room was clean and fun for us and our kids. The interior of the room is more updated than the exterior of the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to find a refrigerator, microwave, and blow dryer in our room: and we made use of them a lot. The TV was big and the furniture nice. The pool was heated, lighted, and gated and we were happy to use it too. The pool area had a barbecue grill for guests' use. Some rooms had a balcony/porch. But not ours; just a fake balcony decoration, and the big windows looked like a sliding door, but they don't open. That was actually good for us though, it was more convenient NOT to have a balcony and sliding door, with kids. Our only complaint is with the bathroom: there was no tub, and the shower did not have a door or shower curtain that you could open and close. The shower had a stationary panel of glass covering half of it to block the water from coming out. However, the shower should have been wider or the panel of glass longer for that design to work out better, because it didn't block the water enough. We had to direct the shower head directly at the wall and not our bodies to try to keep the water in the shower, but a lot of water ended up on the bathroom floor anyway. The hotel maid gave us a lot of towels the next day to make up for all the towels we threw on the floor. It was nice that the hotel provided a continental breakfast with pastries and coffee, tea & juice. A couple of the muffins and pastries were good, but most of them were stale and not tasty. If you want to take advantage of the continental breakfast, you might want to get there EARLY so there will be some variety left and less people in line. The longer you wait, the more people are crowded in the lobby and the less variety of pastries are available. One problem with the location is that we could not find parking when were driving around trying to find a place to eat. All the parallel parking along the streets were taken.
