I have to admit i expected a little more out of the "renovations"...the overall room was outdated, but what should i expect from a building built in the 20's...the beds were very comfortable and the room was very spacious...breakfast was great and the restaraunts were amazing!...most of all, the staff was superb!

Park Manor Inn was built in 1921 as apartments, so it has a lot of charm. The staff was top rate and the location walking distance to all the great museums and gardens of Balboa Park.

We were very disappointed when we arrived at the hotel. The parking lot was not secure. Someone's vehicle was broken into overnight and their vehicle's navigation system was stolen. Our room was nothing like the room we saw online, it looked like an old run-down apartment. The room's mirrors were dirty and smudgy, the bathroom's toilet did not appear clean, and some tiles in the bathroom shower were broken. The only good thing about the hotel was the service and the food from the downstairs restaurant. I will not stay there again and I would not reccommgbend this hotel to anyone.

We really enjoyed our stay albeit a short one. I don't think I would stay for longer than a couple of nights and without AC I would never stay here is the summer. The staff was top notch and without a doubt the most friendly and attentive of any hotel I have ever stayed. If not for the caliber of the staff this hotel would be off of my radar for good. Now for the bad news; parking, while free is very hard to come by in the evening. We found ourselves circling and eventually making our own parking spots in the lot. The rooms are huge but very run down with most of the window panes in our room cracked from being slammed no doubt. The period trim in the room was charming however peeling paint, cracks in the plaster, and over painted sills are not. The elevator is very slow and we found ourselves taking the stairs a few times in lieu of waiting. Once you get to your floor the doors open and you are in the halls of what could easily be some sort of asylum. The halls are dark and creepy and the room doors are skinned in metal that features what looks like bars on the top quarter. I was expecting a large Indian fellow carrying a sink to run by me and hurl it out the window at any time. It really scared my 9yr old son. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would stay there again, but it would have to be at a lower price.

This was my first trip to San Diego and I was concerned when looking for a hotel since I was unfamiliar with the area. After reading the reviews I decided to book this hotel. I could not have been more impressed with this hotel. It's a fantastic bargain and a wonderful atmosphere. The rooms are very large and extremely comfortable. The bathrooms could stand some updating but were fully functional and clean. The elevator was a little slow but didn't pose much of a problem. Breakfast was great and there were plenty of choices. The location is also very good - there is a bus on the corner which will take you downtown to the gaslamp district and the zoo and balboa park are within walking distance. The service at the front desk was also prompt and very friendly. Despite being early on our first day, they found us an available room with no questions asked. I will definitely look into staying at Park Manor again if I visit San Diego in the future.

The rooms were clean and very large, but be aware that the building is quite old and has an old hotel feel with the occasional squeaky floorboard, etc. The location is within an easy walk to Balboa Park, Hillcrest, and Gaslamp. Oh, and FREE parking. The hotel advertises as gay friendly, but don't be worried if you aren't. (We aren't and felt right at home.) Very good value for the cost.

Our stay was great the only reason I gave it a 3 on comfort is because we seemed to have been given a room right under the breakfast kitchen so we couldn't sleep the first night. Ask not to be given rooms on the sixth floor under that area. For the condition, it was old so expect the old wood smell and you could tell they don't shine the marble floors, but other than that it was fine in that respect. Also, two window did not have locks nor did the door have the chain lock, but they fixed that as soon as we let them know - a big plus if you staying with kids! Parking was a bit of a hassle but not too bad. The windows are old too, so quite a bit of noise form the outside could be heard too, even though we were on the sixth floor. Overall, it was convenient and close to balboa park (only about a minute drive) and close to the gaslamp center too.

Hotel was old of course but also smelled of your grandmothers atic. Although the room was large the ammenaties were out dated. Complimentary cold breakfast was nice and off street parking was also a bonus although a little tight at times. The hotel windows may have been made of platic wrap so it was a little noisey. If you get a deal with this hotel it is worth it, but I would have paid a little more and gotten a world of difference. Not to mention the strange noises coming for the plumbing in the walls.

We were very happy with this hotel. It was a great location. The free breakfast was good and is offered on the penthouse floor with a beautiful view of the city. The room was big and very clean. The free parking was great because we had a rental car.
